The New Mexico Vine and Wine Society manages the annual NM State Fair wine competition which is held in June of each year. It provides qualified judges and conducts refresher training for each judge prior to the start of the competition. The Society manages the submission of the wines, judges the wines, and awards and distributes the medals. Potential entrants are notified by various means usually in early May. There is a fee for entering the competition.
